Opening 2026

More than a child care centre, a campus designed for children to learn, create, perform, explore, and belong.
Our bright, spacious classrooms are filled with natural light and thoughtfully arranged to encourage exploration, creativity, collaboration, and meaningful hands-on learning.
A welcoming space where children can read, imagine, wonder, and discover the world through books.
Our performing arts space encourages children to find their voice, express themselves, and shine through music, movement, drama, and storytelling.
Our outdoor learning spaces invite children to move, explore, investigate, and connect with nature through active play and hands-on discovery.
Our child-friendly culinary space brings learning to life through cooking, baking, and food exploration — building practical skills, independence, confidence, and healthy habits.
A bright, welcoming space where children gather to enjoy freshly prepared meals, practise independence, and build meaningful connections around the table.
Where Children Design, Build & Create
We believe children learn deeply when they work with their hands. In our Makerspace, children design, build, construct, repair, and create using real materials and age-appropriate tools.
Four pillars shape every experience at Newstead Academy Markham.

We encourage and enable our students to ask questions, think critically, investigate meaningful ideas, and become active participants in their own learning.
We see every child as capable, competent, and full of potential. We follow their interests, ideas, and voices to shape meaningful learning experiences, while our thoughtfully designed environments inspire exploration, creativity, and collaboration.
We believe every student has the capacity to lead and develop their sense of strength, determination, and maturity. Through leadership-centric opportunities, our students develop confidence, resilience, and independence as they build their own path toward a future of excellence.
We build strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, communication, and critical thinking while nurturing the social, emotional, physical, and creative growth of every child.
Newstead Academy is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work, and live in the community with each other.
Newstead Academy is committed to creating and sustaining an equitable and inclusive learning and working environment. We encourage and actively seek applications from Indigenous, Black, racialized people, visible minorities, 2SLGBTQIA+ persons, all genders, and persons with disabilities.
