Hi, My name is Azam Ghasemi, and I work as a child care provider at Newstead Academy. I help take care of young children, keep them safe, and make sure they have fun while learning new things. I moved to Canada in 2013 from Tehran, Iran, to reunite with my daughter in Toronto. It was a big change, and it wasn’t easy to leave my country and loved ones to start a new life here. Back in Iran, I had a good job and a comfortable life. I worked in the logistics departments of several embassies: 14 years at the Embassy of Kuwait, 2 years at the Embassy of Poland, 4 years at the Embassy of the UAE, and 2 years at the Embassy of Belgium. I also worked for 4 years at a school for children of foreign diplomats. In 2014, I moved to Penticton, BC, and worked different jobs. I’ve always enjoyed being around children, so I decided to study online to get a child care certificate and follow my passion. In 2018, I was hired by the South Okanagan Immigrant and Community Services as a child care provider. It was a wonderful opportunity to support newcomer families while doing the work I love. In 2022, my son joined us in Canada, and I decided to move back to Toronto to be close to both of my children, Marjan and Mohamad. In my free time, I enjoy being with my family, going for walks, and listening to music. Taking care of children brings me joy, and I feel proud to support them in their early learning and development.
